THE ROLE
Our client is one of Vancouver’s largest Real Estate companies that both develop and manage commercial and residential properties across the Lower Mainland. The client is currently looking to hire a Project Manager for the team. The Project Manager will be part of the Civil and Infrastructure team, reporting directly to the Construction Manager.
As a Project Manager specializing in civil construction, you will play a vital role in leading and managing the successful delivery of projects from conception to completion. Drawing upon your expertise in civil engineering and construction management, you will coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with client specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the design team to advance civil designs for development projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and client expectations.
- Manage the contract assembly, tendering processes, and administration of construction contracts, overseeing contractual agreements and adherence to project timelines.
- Liaise with consultants and municipal engineering departments to coordinate and track RFIs, QA/QC reporting, and documentation.
- Prepare comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation, to guide project execution effectively.
- Develop accurate cost estimates and budgets for civil construction projects, monitoring project expenses and ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Prepare purchase orders (POs) and summaries for contract invoices, tracking and documenting contract progress claims and holdback amounts.
- Ensure timely processing of procurement invoices and related company invoicing, collaborating with internal development, finance/accounting, and construction groups as needed.
- Procure necessary materials, equipment, and subcontractor services for civil construction projects, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with project requirements.
- Oversee document control processes to ensure the accuracy and accessibility of project information and drawings for field crews and contractors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies, providing regular project updates and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Foster positive relationships with stakeholders, consultants, and municipal authorities to facilitate project progression and mitigate potential risks.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of project objectives with company goals and objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in civil construction and/or land development projects.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and familiarity with MMCD Documents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards in civil construction.
- Professional demeanour and a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
