THE ROLE

STRIVE has partnered with a Not-For-Profit organization that is really helping to build and shape the future! Due to the growth of the organization, the client has a newly created Junior Accountant position they are looking to hire. Through cutting-edge and pioneering programmes, the client is helping Canadian businesses and the workforce adapt and upskill. This is all with the aim of addressing issues of the day such as climate change and driving economic productivity!

As the Junior Accountant, you will be responsible for performing various accounting functions and providing support for the finance team. The client is looking for a Junior Accountant with s strong attention to detail, communication skills and the ability to use their initiative.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support to the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and cash management processes
  • Prepare bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
  • Process AP and AR, process and track payments and maintain payment records
  • Assist in monthly and quarterly closing procedures
  • Analyze and vouch expense claims
  • Coordinate and assist with audits as needed
  • Support the Finance team in other responsibilities and projects as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in full cycle accounting role
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Previous experience with not-for-profit accounting is an asset
  • Previous experience with Dynamics 365 is an asset
  • Ability to produce accurate work with given deadlines
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use analytical and problem solving skills in completing the work
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently
