THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is working with a versatile legal firm which focuses in areas such as commercial litigation, family law, insurance and more. Our client is a Canadian based firm and they are looking for a Family law Legal Assistant for their location in Vancouver.

We are looking for someone who is able to work well by themselves and able to support and help the team when necessary. Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside clients and opposing counsel to gather, review, and produce documents;
  • Drafting standard correspondence;
  • Examining documents and coding them for relevance and privilege;
  • Preparing various pleadings such as Form F8 Financial Statements, Affidavits, Notices of Application, and Lists of Documents;
  • Reviewing and summarizing transcripts;
  • Supporting lawyers with trial preparations in all aspects.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • More than 5 years of litigation experience, specializing in family law;
  • Completion of a post-secondary Legal Administrative Assistant (LAA) and/or paralegal program, or equivalent real-world experience;
  • Comprehensive understanding of BC Supreme Court Rules, court procedures, filing deadlines, and familiarity with the Family Law Act;
  • Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills, capable of working efficiently under pressure, multitasking, and meeting multiple deadlines;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate work;
  • Sound judgement and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive matters;
  • Dedicated to providing excellent client service;
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, able to work independently, take initiative, and be resourceful;
  • Proficient in file organization and time management;
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as experience with DivorceMate software;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
