Our recruitment team is currently working with a growing manufacturer seeking 2 Senior Production Assistants for the plant in Langley. Preference is given to those who are mechanically inclined and have a trades background of any level (welding, machining, plumbing, power engineering). Please note for those candidates holding a Journeyman ticket, compensation is open for negotiation.

Please note, this opportunity is not accessible via transit, therefore the use of your own transportation is required.

 

The Role  

The main duties of the Senior Production Assistant include monitoring all equipment parameters that are consistent with defined operating requirements. This is a full-time position running from Monday to Friday on rotational shifts every 2-weeks. The right candidate must be flexible to work all 3 shift rotations given the plant operates 24/5:

  • Daytime: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Afternoon: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM
  • Graveyard: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM

 

Responsibilities 

  • Prepare checklist from production order, ensuring materials for the production line are allocated and steps for production followed
  • Troubleshooting equipment and identifying any control issues
  • Adapting to incoming production changes from the Management team
  • Complete production reports, and paperwork
  • Run a Melt Flow Index test and report back to the laboratory
  • Disassemble compounding equipment for cleaning and inspection
  • Perform regular maintenance
  • Actively reporting safety concerns as well as damaged equipment

 

Requirements   

  • 3-5 years experience in a similar maintenance and machine operations setting in an industrial space
  • Having a can-do and go-getter attitude, showcasing strong work initiative, and supporting various areas of the plant
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to lift 25lbs regularly
  • Having a strong health and safety mentality, and abiding by company policies
  • Knowledgeable in working with computing systems for report generation
  • Capable of working well independently with strong reliability
  • Collaborative, strong problem solver, and able to bring creative ideas
  • Comfortable working in a noisy setting and working directly with hot surfaces and warm temperatures
