The Role

Our client is a Canadian-based food company, with a rapid growth rate from coast to coast. Currently, they’re looking for a Production Supervisor with proven leadership skills to join their team located in Abbotsford. This is a permanent opportunity with great benefits, RRSP matching, and a strong vacation package!

 

The Production Supervisor will directly report to the Plant Manager and the main responsibilities will be leading the Production, Shipping, and Sanitation teams in all daily operations. This position will be working on the afternoon shift starting at 2:30 PM. To start, it will be on the day shift for training purposes. Please note, that the candidate may have to work the occasional weekend shift during the peak period!

Responsibilities

  • Manage team leaders and team members to ensure that production schedules and goals are achieved while meeting quality and safety standards.
  • Provide coaching, training, reviewing, and mentorship to team leaders and other team members.
  • Complete accident/incident reports and notify HR and participate in investigations as needed.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure production is compliant with quality standards and make adjustments to correct issues
  • Recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other work units.
  • Accurately troubleshoot processing system issues.
  • Administrative duties related to production, shipping, and quality performance.
  • Resolve work problems to improve the work environment to increase productivity.
  • Document absences, lateness, and misconduct and apply interventions required.
  • Manage employees' schedules and attendance in the system.
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other work units.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience as a Production Supervisor in food manufacturing
  • Excellent and proven leadership skills are required. Leadership courses would be an asset.
  • Proven ability to define performance measures related to the business and hold associates accountable for the same.
  • Strong understanding of Sanitation, SQF, HACCP, and GMPs.
  • Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety standards and to control/prevent hazards at all stages of the food production process.
  • Ability to analyze cost performance data to improve operations and reduce costs.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, and Outlook). Particularly MS Excel skills are an asset!
  • Flexibility to work on some weekends, especially during the peak season.

Compensation:

  • $70,000 to $80,000 based on leadership experience
