THE ROLE
Reporting to the Senior Director of Manufacturing Technology, you will lead and develop best practices in our paint department as we scale operations and explore new market opportunities. As a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist, the role involves close collaboration with Maintenance, Quality, Production, and Materials teams. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and project leadership experience are essential, along with the ability to train team members on processes and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge of powder paint applications and processes is nice to have
- Lead manufacturing paint line and future design/launch projects– capital project development, vendor selection, front-end engineering design, design reviews, fabrication, acceptance testing, construction, installation, commissioning, and handover to operations.
- Continuous improvement and enhancement to paint lines for optimized performance.
- Help reduce machine downtime by implementing maintenance and preventative maintenance (delegate the actual repairs/maintenance to the maintenance dept.
- Develop manufacturing strategies for new projects by performing detailed feasibility, project timing and cost estimate studies.
- Provide technical support for the assessment of different manufacturing scenarios.
- Ensure manufacturing paint lines meet uptime, availability and reliability metrics – OEE, cycle time, quality and manufacturing lead times.
- Develop and deliver training to operations and maintenance technicians to ensure a seamless handover of new equipment.
- Ensure that all equipment, processes, and procedures comply with applicable standards, company policy and all Health and Safety Laws, Acts, Regulations and Codes
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree/diploma in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering
- PMP nice to have
- 5 plus years of proven capital project management experience.
- 5 years of experience in powder paint applications nice to have
- Tier 1 or 2 experience in automotive is ideal
- CAD experience (Inventor, AutoCAD) is desirable. Experience with Smartsheet
- Process design and documentation, including development and publication of Standard Operating Procedures
- Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to identify and drive non-standard solutions to solve manufacturing constraints.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment with minimal guidance, self-starter, yet a team player.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with internal groups and outside vendors.
- Experience designing automated manufacturing equipment is advantageous
- Experience with quality systems and processes
