THE ROLE
As a Junior Buyer, your primary responsibilities will include managing purchase orders, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to meet customer demands. You’ll oversee inventory levels, handle vendor communications, and resolve price discrepancies on purchase orders. This is a great permanent opportunity for someone detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys using their negotiation and problem-solving skills to drive efficient purchasing processes while building strong relationships with suppliers. This is a growing company that is very busy right now. This position is located in Burlington for a medium-sized service shop.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enter purchase orders into the Accounting system
- Manage and sort e-mail inquiries from employees for job inquiries
- Review and investigate price discrepancies on purchase orders
- Manage debit notes for vendors when items do not match purchase orders
- Investigating and determining what/how/why material came in incorrectly or damaged
- Communicate with suppliers regularly
- Assisting with physical inventory counts
- Monitoring price increases and communicating changes, as necessary
- Arrange for freight when necessary
- Utilize negotiation skills regularly
- Assist the Purchasing Manager in the yearend inventory process
- Manage costs when purchasing and for freight
- Responsible for setting up freight companies for shipping
- Update production summary report weekly for production meetings
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma required
- Enrolled in Post-secondary courses/certificate with purchasing or supply chain management focus preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience working in a similar role
- Must have experience in purchasing steel
- Working in a manufacturing environment is an asset
- Must be very proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV Accounting software is an asset
- Strong writing skills for creating reports, correspondence, contracts, requests, bids, and other documentation
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
- Team player with strong problem-solving skills
- Fast-paced environment – must be able to work well under pressure
