THE ROLE

As a Yard Coordinator at a well-known third-party logistics company in Brantford,ON. You'll play a crucial role in managing truck movements and overseeing yard operations. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and excellent organizational abilities to ensure efficient and secure operations.

You’ll be responsible for controlling access to the facility, assisting drivers and visitors, and managing trailer drops. In addition, you'll enter data into the Yard Management System (YMS), ensure trailers are properly fueled, and maintain a safe and secure environment. You’ll also monitor the yard for any unusual conditions, report issues promptly, and ensure all necessary paperwork is accurately completed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Control access to the facility, allowing entry only to authorized personnel.
  • Assist drivers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Check incoming drivers into the yard and assign trailer drop locations as needed.
  • Facilitate communication between the office, warehouse, drivers, and shunters regarding truck movements.
  • Enter updates into the Yard Management System (YMS) for trailer drops.
  • Scan and email BOLs (Bills of Lading) and other relevant paperwork to Warehouse Admin staff for trailer drops.
  • Perform hourly yard checks to ensure trailers have adequate fuel levels and refrigeration units are functioning; report any issues.
  • Monitor for irregular or unusual conditions that may pose security or safety risks.
  • Observe departing personnel to prevent theft of company property and ensure proper documentation for authorized removals.
  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, or suspicious activities; maintain daily logs as required.
  • Warn individuals of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking, or unsafe driving.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-2 years of office administrative experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with a proactive attitude.
  • Exceptional computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
