THE ROLE
We are partnering with a reputable Canadian law firm located in Surrey, BC. Currently, we are looking to add an additional member to their Wills & Estate team as they have a need for a Legal Assistant!
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing wills, powers of attorney, trusts, and other estate planning documents
- Draft and file probate and estate administration documents
- Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and court offices to gather required information
- Manage files, maintain client records, and track important deadlines
- Schedule meetings, appointments, and court dates
- Conduct legal research and ensure compliance with estate laws and regulations
- Assist with estate accounting and asset distribution documentation
- Provide general administrative support to lawyers
Qualifications:
- Experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal in Wills & Estates is preferred
- Strong knowledge of estate planning, probate, and estate administration procedures
- Proficiency in legal software and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive client matters with confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment
- Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
