THE ROLE

We are partnering with a reputable Canadian law firm located in Surrey, BC. Currently, we are looking to add an additional member to their Estate Litigation team as they have a need for a Legal Assistant!

Responsibilities:

  • Draft correspondence, pleadings, and key legal documents such as Trial Briefs, Case Plan Proposals, Lists of Documents, Application Records, and Orders.
  • Organize and maintain case files, update binders, manage document intake, and assemble exhibits for affidavits and trial.
  • Coordinate hearings, discoveries, mediations, and trial dates while managing the lawyer’s schedule.
  • Oversee email correspondence, track deadlines, prepare invoices, and assist with file opening, organization, and closure.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients and opposing counsel, ensuring smooth case progress.
  • Perform land title, corporate, and court registry searches while retrieving necessary legal documents.

Qualifications:

  • Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • At least 4 years in litigation; experience in estate litigation is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Outlook, with a strong grasp of Supreme Court Rules.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong time management and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exercises sound judgment, maintains confidentiality, and demonstrates professionalism.
  • Thrives under pressure, able to work both independently and collaboratively.
