Our recruitment team is currently working with a distributor of medical supplies located within the Tri-City metropolitan area of Vancouver, seeking a Supply Chain Manager, offering shift times from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

 

The Role  

The main duties of the Supply Chain Manager include overseeing fulfillment, shipping customer orders, and processing shipments coming in. Additionally, having the ability to speak to vendors locally and internationally (primarily South East Asia), foster relationships with partners around the world, and communicate effectively with internal teams about scientific equipment. Pricing discussions, and negotiation with potential vendors.

The Supply Chain Manager will work directly with the sales team and production team, acting as the connection for both departments. Providing leadership and day-to-day direction to the planning, procurement, logistics, and warehousing team members.

The area of responsibility for the Supply Chain Manager includes demand planning & forecasting, long-range production planning, S&OP, Master Data Management, production scheduling, inventory management & control, materials requirement planning, strategic material sourcing (raw materials & packaging), procurement, order processing, warehousing, freight logistics, and 3PL management.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Setting the strategic plan and developing existing processes
  • Monitoring vendor's qualifications and performance
  • Creating the company’s supply chain strategy including analysis of current inventory, suggesting improvements to current procedures for efficiency and profitability
  • Optimizing inventory levels of materials and finished goods to minimize the use of warehousing space
  • Following the team's progression by tracking team members' performances, while giving feedback, training, and conducting performance reviews
  • Warehouse maintenance, and organization
  • Coordination with Customs and 3rd party logistic providers for our inbound logistics
  • Processing contracts, control of rates/spend, issues compilation, point of contact with suppliers, supplier's integration, Shopify/Shipstation for everything outbound
  • Order fulfillment, providing direction and support to ensure service performance levels are surpassed
  • Procurement of raw materials, fulfillment supplies working closely with the Research & Development, and Quality teams to procure new ingredients
  • Adhering to quality standards and implementing safety guidelines
  • Evaluate potential vendors and suppliers
  • Negotiating raw material supply contracts with vendors and optimizing the volume-to-price equation to meet business needs while respecting inventory management targets
  • Issue resolution (e.g., delays in delivery, accidents)
  • Collaboration with other departments to create coordinated plans for business growth. Works closely with Finance to establish budgets and standard costs
  • Ensure supply chain processes meet legal and quality requirements and standards

 

Requirements   

  • 5+ years of experience as a Supply Chain Manager
  • A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management (APICS, PMAC, or related work experience)
  • Medical device manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is an asset
  • Strong understanding of Import/Export laws
  • Strong communication skills, leadership, and mentorship in the day-to-day nurturing of team strengths.
  • Experience in OH&S is a strong asset
  • Ability to proactively drive results
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Strong business acumen, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Highly proficient with Excel and other MS Office suites.
  • Experience with Google Workspace, Google Sheets, and Quickbooks is a strong asset

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong accountability and can-do attitude

 

Compensation 

  • $85,000 to $95,000 depending on experience
  • Regular bonuses available
