THE ROLE

Our recruitment team is currently working with one of the leading distributors in Canada. Recognized as one of the Top 100 Best Employers, our client continues to face constant growth, with multiple locations across North America. The Delta branch is currently seeking a Shipping and Receiving Coordinator, offering $26 to $28 an hour to start (plus a discretionary annual bonus) with the opportunity for negotiation for the right candidate and a potential wage increase after training is completed and probation is passed.

This position is 90% administrative and 10% on the floor, verifying shipments, loads, and signing off paperwork. Some physical aspect for the job are required; therefore, the right person should be able and comfortable lifting 50lbs in occassion. The successful candidate will be cross-trained to support multiple logistics functions and provide backup coverage across different shipping and receiving areas; including 4 different teams from local to international shipments; with experience handling international paperwork such as bill of ladings and custom declaration paperwork.

This position offers daytime shifts from Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with flexibility to start at 7 PM when needed. Weekend work may be required from time to time.

The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for arranging transportation, preparing documentation, communicating with drivers and internal teams, monitoring inbound and outbound freight, updating records, and conducting brief physical inspections of shipments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support several logistics coordination functions, including local deliveries, long-distance shipments, pooled transport routes, and inbound freight.
  • Schedule and manage pickups and deliveries for outgoing and incoming materials.
  • Prepare and review shipping and receiving documentation such as transport forms and receiving records.
  • Verify shipments for accuracy and report visible damage or discrepancies.
  • Maintain communication with drivers, warehouse staff, production teams, and sales departments to ensure smooth freight movement.
  • Track shipment status and update internal systems and spreadsheets.
  • Assist in resolving issues related to delays, shortages, overages, or damaged goods.
  • Conduct occasional yard checks of trucks and containers and provide operational support when required.
  • Follow all safety procedures and handle materials up to 50 lbs when necessary.
  • Provide general support to other departments during slower periods.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in a distribution, construction materials, or manufacturing space.
  • Comfortable working with computers, including commanding experience with Excel spreadsheets and formulas, as well as email platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Willingness to learn multiple operational processes and systems.
  • Able to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
  • Comfortable performing brief outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs when required.
  • Prior experience in logistics, dispatch, shipping, or receiving.
