THE ROLE
Our client, a leading North American investment firm specializing in real estate finance, is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst to join their team in Vancouver, BC. This organization has a strong track record of success, providing developers and investors with tailored financing solutions while maintaining a collaborative and high-performance workplace culture.
Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting, the Senior Financial Reporting Analyst will oversee financial reporting for various entities, coordinate auditor engagements, conduct financial analyses, and mentor fund accountants. This role requires an individual with strong technical accounting expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to process improvement and efficiency optimization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare detailed reports for senior management, including dashboards and monthly fund summaries.
- Assist in the preparation of annual audited financial statements in accordance with IFRS and US GAAP.
- Respond to investor due diligence requests, as well as inquiries from senior management and auditors in a timely manner.
- Oversee all aspects of monthly financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Review work prepared by fund accountants and provide mentorship and training to junior team members.
- Assist in developing and implementing controls to safeguard fund assets through sound financial policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process enhancements, including financial system implementations and automation.
- Coordinate and support the annual audit processes and other compliance-related reports.
- Assist in preparing technical accounting analyses, including consolidation requirements and financial instrument recognition.
- Calculate and process distributions to unit holders and manage fund-related processes, including management fees and expense oversight.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies or irregularities in accounting records.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- CPA designation or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years of post-designation experience in investment or financial services, with exposure to public company reporting preferred.
- Strong proficiency in IFRS and/or US GAAP reporting standards.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience in Microsoft Dynamics GP (or similar accounting software).
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
