We are exclusively partnered with a well-established family-owned Real Estate Investment firm that has been in operation for over 60 years. With a diverse portfolio that includes residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties, as well as hospitality and retail operations, this company is looking for a strategic financial leader to join their executive team.

THE ROLE

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Controller with a planned succession to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) within the next 18-24 months. This role will initially focus on corporate accounting while gaining an understanding of the company’s portfolio, eventually taking on broader financial and strategic leadership responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee financial management, budgeting, and cash flow planning
  • Manage year-end financial reviews and corporate filings
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures
  • Handle tax planning, including corporate and personal tax filings
  • Establish and maintain banking relationships and manage financing structures
  • Oversee payroll, WCB payments, and compliance with CRA regulations
  • Lead financial analysis to support decision-making and long-term strategy
  • Assist with corporate amalgamations and commercial lease negotiations
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA designation required (MBA an asset)
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in senior financial leadership
  • Experience in real estate development or investment preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial management, tax, and compliance
  • Exceptional strategic planning and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple entities and complex financial structures
  • Leadership and team management experience
