THE ROLE:

Our client, a Vancouver-based law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support a real estate and financial services practice. This role involves assisting with a wide range of residential, commercial, and financial transactions, including property acquisitions and sales, condominium developments, financing transactions, and land development.

The ideal candidate has experience in real estate and financial services law, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administering files, from open to close, supporting the requirements of the lawyer, co-operating with other staff, ensuring follow-up, timeliness and accuracy.
  • Performing various administrative tasks including billing and following up on outstanding accounts.
  • Co-ordinating and facilitating document preparation.
  • Communicating with clients on file matters.
  • Making electronic inquiries and document filings with agencies such as BC Registries and Online Services and Land Title and Survey Authority (myLTSA).
  • Prioritizing and diarizing workflow to ensure completion of accurate work to meet external and internal deadlines.
  • Supporting the learning and mentoring of team members.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of a recognized legal assistant program or equivalent.
  • Five or more years of real estate development/subdivision and/or financial services experience considered a key asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team.
  • Strong work ethic with initiative; capable of multitasking and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced and often changing environment.
  • Experience in BC Registries and Online Services, Land Title and Survey Authority (myLTSA).
  • Skilled in the areas of attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, dependability and organization.
  • In-office work location in our Vancouver, British Columbia office.
  • Ability to commute or a plan to relocate before start date.
