THE ROLE:
Our client is a well-established Canadian manufacturer specializing in heavy industrial equipment and custom-engineered systems. Operating out of a modern facility in Stoney Creek, this organization is known for its strong safety culture, hands-on production environment, and commitment to quality and continuous improvement. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Technician to provide temporary coverage while a team member is on leave (approximately 3–4 months). This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality, welding compliance, and maintenance of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
You will work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Electrical, and Manufacturing teams to support in-process and final inspections, manage non-conformances, coordinate audits, and maintain quality documentation. This is a stand-alone position requiring someone confident, organized, and comfortable working in a busy shop-floor environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quality professional with heavy manufacturing experience who enjoys being hands-on and making a real impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform in-process and final inspections of fabricated and welded components
- Ensure Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) are completed and documented at each production stage
- Conduct final visual inspections prior to shipment using pre-shipment checklists
- Review GA drawings, customer quotes, and purchase orders before job release
- Capture and upload production, packaging, and electrical functionality photos/videos
- Create and manage shipping documentation (Bills of Lading, packing slips)
- Raise, track, and close NCRs and CARs with proper documentation
- Issue quality alerts and communicate findings to production teams
- Participate in weekly production meetings and document quality issues
- Maintain and continuously improve ISO 9001 documentation (manuals, procedures, work instructions, forms)
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits
- Prepare Management Review materials (SWOT, risk assessments, objectives, meeting minutes)
- Support welding compliance (CWB audits, weld documentation, WPS adherence, welder certifications)
- Maintain calibration program for shop measuring tools
- Maintain equipment lists and crane database
- Track On-Time Delivery (OTD) and shipment data
- Maintain training matrix and provide quality-related training as required
- Ensure compliance with OHSA and company safety policies
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3–5 years of experience in a Quality Technician / Quality Assurance role within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Experience inspecting welded fabrications and mechanical assemblies
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret welding symbols
- Strong documentation, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working independently in a shop-floor environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and MS Office
