The Role
We’re partnering with a leading national courier company to find an Operations Supervisor to lead their Peterborough terminal. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and offers a unique opportunity to drive cultural change and operational excellence in a high-energy environment. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will oversee all terminal staff, including drivers and warehouse personnel, while implementing new standards and processes to ensure efficiency, safety, and service excellence.

Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on leadership for warehouse staff and drivers, managing daily operations and workflow
- Recruit, train, schedule, and develop terminal staff, including coaching and discipline as required
- Ensure all inbound and outbound freight is processed accurately and on time
- Monitor and report operational metrics (KPI), including productivity, quality, safety, and equipment performance
- Lead culture change initiatives to energize the terminal and create accountability across all shifts
- Apply strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address operational challenges quickly and effectively
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and company policies while maintaining operational efficiency
- Maintain open communication with staff and management, including incident reporting, HR matters, and process updates
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs, increase productivity, and improve service levels
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally and expediently
Requirements
- Energetic, confident, and assertive personality with the ability to step into a long-tenured team and drive change
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience; entry-level management role, maturity and presence essential
- Experience in courier, transportation, manufacturing, fast-paced industrial, or similar operational environments preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment and make decisive, timely decisions
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and comfortable with basic reporting
- Ability to manage unionized staff while maintaining authority and fostering accountability
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to lead by example in a hands-on role
- Ability to reset terminal culture and motivate a long-standing team
- Decisive and confident under pressure with strong presence and leadership skills
- Comfortable implementing change, setting standards, and holding team members accountable
