The Role

We have partnered with a leading, growth-focused organization in the recycling and environmental services industry to hire a Procurement & Logistics Manager.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role responsible for the buying, selling, and movement of recyclable materials across multiple facilities. The position blends commercial strategy with day-to-day execution, requiring close coordination with logistics, operations, and external partners.

The successful candidate will bring experience in procurement, trading, or sales within recycling or related industries, along with a strong understanding of logistics, forecasting, and cost control.

You will work closely with the logistics team to schedule shipments, manage freight carriers, and ensure materials are moved efficiently and cost-effectively, while also leading contract negotiations and optimizing market opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the purchase and sale (trading) of recyclable materials, ensuring alignment with market pricing and demand
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers, brokers, and end users
  • Take ownership of logistics planning, including scheduling shipments, coordinating with carriers, and managing freight costs
  • Work closely with the logistics coordinator on day-to-day shipment execution and issue resolution
  • Monitor and control costs related to transportation, materials, and operations
  • Develop and maintain forecasting models to support inventory flow, pricing, and supply/demand planning
  • Analyze market trends to inform purchasing, sales, and logistics decisions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, customers, and logistics partners
  • Resolve claims, discrepancies, and delivery issues in a timely manner
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and sales teams

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, trading, or sales within recycling, metals, or related industries (required)
  • Proven experience with hands-on logistics coordination, including scheduling shipments, managing freight carriers, and overseeing material movement
  • Strong experience in contract negotiation and commercial decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability in cost control and margin management
  • Experience with forecasting, inventory flow, and supply/demand planning
  • Solid understanding of recycling markets, pricing, and logistics operations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability, hands-on environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required)
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed
