The Role
Our client is a reputable and leading Canadian manufacturer and supplier with multiple global locations in search of a Maintenance Manager for the Edmonton 24/7 operating facility.
Offering multiple opportunities for growth, and diverse career paths internationally, our client requires the Maintenance Manager to work daytime shifts Monday to Friday on a 7 AM or 8 AM start, having the flexibility to work overtime and different schedules should be needed. The Maintenance Manager will be required to thrive in a unionized environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and enforce safety and food safety standards in the maintenance department
- Ensure staff are trained, motivated, and equipped to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
- Oversee hiring, performance reviews, and succession planning for key roles.
- Develop and manage long-term strategic plans and KPIs aligned with site and corporate goals.
- Manage asset life cycles, budget planning, and recommend equipment upgrades.
- Supervise maintenance processes, implement preventative programs, and track key metrics.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and foster strong relationships with vendors.
- Drive continuous improvement and stay informed about technological advancements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a Supervisory role.
- Previous union experience leading a large team of employees from different backgrounds and years of experience.
- Trades background or mechanical engineering degree.
- Predictive and preventative maintenance knowledge on packaging equipment, compressors, power transmitters, conveyor belt systems, hydraulic components, PLCs, automated equipment, fillers, electro-mechanical, and centrifugal pumps.
- Experience with SAP and other systems is a strong asset
- Mechanically inclined and strong equipment diagnosis.
- A high level of ownership, accountability, and initiative.
- Strong people-first mentality, having constant collaboration with the team.
- Commitment to health and safety standards and protocols.
- Strategic mindset to push the team forward and the overall plant performance.
Compensation
- $125,000 to $145,000.
- Relocation reimbursement coverage of up to a specific amount is available.
