The Role

We have partnered with a well-established manufacturing organization in Brantford to hire a Temporary Logistics Coordinator to support a fast-paced shipping and logistics operation. This role is ideal for someone who has done shipping coordination or logistics administration before, enjoys being busy, and thrives in a manufacturing environment. This is a temporary position with long term potential.

Reporting to the Materials Manager, this position plays a key role in coordinating inbound and outbound shipments from the Brantford plant while maintaining strong communication with internal teams, carriers, and drivers.

Most days are non-stop busy, with occasional overtime required depending on shipment volume and carrier schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage inbound and outbound shipments from the Brantford manufacturing site
  • Prepare and manage all shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, customs paperwork, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) documentation (TDG experience is an asset)
  • Act as the main point of contact between carriers, drivers, and internal logistics teams
  • Book and maintain a high-volume shipping schedule within established shipping hours
  • Communicate proactively with Sales, Operations, Materials, and Administration to resolve shipment issues as they arise
  • Maintain and update multiple spreadsheets related to shipping schedules, planning, and accuracy
  • Coordinate courier shipments for the Brantford plant
  • Assist with determining freight requirements, including truck space and number of trucks required
  • Monitor scrap, bin exchanges, and coordinate hooks for burning and returns
  • Participate in weekly stock meetings and assist with inventory coordination
  • Provide coverage for the Shipping Supervisor during vacation or illness
  • Support annual inventory counts
  • Uphold safety regulations when interacting with drivers and within the manufacturing environment
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on shipping efficiency, lead times, and cost savings

Requirements

  • Manufacturing environment experience is required
  • 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience in a shipping, logistics, or transportation administrative role
  • Strong understanding of transportation and shipping principles (domestic & international)
  • Experience with ERP systems is required (JDE is a strong asset)
  • Comfortable working with drivers and external carriers while enforcing safety standards
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to problem-solve quickly in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong math skills and attention to detail for freight planning and documentation
  • Polite, professional, and confident when communicating by phone, email, and in person
