The Role
Our client in the heavy-duty space is looking for a Heavy Duty Parts Specialist. This role is a daytime position with a starting time at 7 AM or 8 AM, Monday to Friday. Preference is given to those holding a Red Seal Parts Person certificate or related accreditation.
The Parts Specialist will play a critical role in maintaining inventory control, handling shipment and reception of parts, ensuring accurate pricing, negotiating rates, purchasing, and adhering to inventory management principles.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance of on-site parts operations and replenishment of truck parts. Supplying correct parts to the maintenance team for rebuilds.
- Assist and represent the organization while at customer consignment locations and through incoming phone calls or in-person interactions over the counter.
- Perform regular cycle counts and physical count reconciliation.
- Process reports and file paperwork on maintenance and inventory counts.
- Purchasing maintenance parts while staying informed on market pricings.
- Negotiating with vendors to land the best price points for materials.
- Accurately match parts to order requirements.
- Arrange transportation or shipment of parts.
- Contribute to proper inventory control and stock organization.
- Suggest layout optimizations and assist with implementing physical changes to improve efficiency.
Requirements
- Comfortable working fully on-site and lifting 50-60lbs regularly.
- 5+ years of experience in a parts specialist or advisory role preferrably in the heavy-duty, transportation, or automotive industries.
- A valid driver's license is required, and preference is given to those with a valid forklift certification.
- Experienced in performing physical and systematic inventory counts. Comfortable working with computing systems for data entry.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to negotiate rates with vendors and support customers' needs.
- Providing professional and prompt solutions to customers' needs.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines promptly.
- Able to work well independently, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills to ensure inventory is at optimal capacity.
Compensation
- $65,000 to $75,000, depending on experience. Open for negotiation to those in the heavy-duty and transportation industry.
