Financial Planning and Training Specialist

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 plus bonus and benefits

THE CLIENT

STRIVE is currently working with one of Vancouver’s longest-established Financial Services organizations as they look to hire an Estate and Insurance Planner. As the Estate and Insurance Planner, you will be joining a high-performing company that has been recognized time and again for its corporate culture and leadership team. The culture is something that means a lot to the client and they have really put a lot of effort into building this.

 

THE ROLE

Working closely with the Financial Planning team, the Financial Planning and Training Specialist will be responsible for preparing financial plans and forecasts using advanced software, as well as reviewing the work of colleagues. The Financial Planning and Training Specialist will also be involved in training Financial Planners who work within various advisory groups on how to use financial planning and forecasting tools. The ideal candidate for this role should be a collaborative team player, a strategic thinker, and someone with a keen eye for detail who delivers excellent service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize existing materials to create and conduct training sessions for Investment Advisors, Investment Assistants, and Financial Planners, focusing on different stages of the financial planning process, especially on developing financial projections and plans using NaviPlan and other similar software.
  • Gather and examine data related to clients' financial objectives.
  • Create customized financial projections and reports for clients using advanced software.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and communicate with clients, demonstrating sound judgment and strong relationship-building skills in a professional environment.
  • Share best practices for gathering and inputting client data into planning software, reviewing financial projection reports, and interpreting the outcomes.
  • Clarify principles and guidelines for team members regarding personal and corporate income tax, registered and non-registered accounts, trusts and estates, pensions, and government benefits.
  • Assess the effectiveness of training sessions and suggest improvements for ongoing development.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • CFP® certification or equivalent financial planning designation with a minimum of three years post-certification experience using financial planning software.
  • Deep understanding of decumulation strategies from a tax perspective.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint); familiarity with NaviPlan is preferred, Conquest is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of financial projections involving trust and private corporation assets is an asset.
  • Self-starter with a flexible and collaborative approach; eager to support team members.
  • Keen attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation abilities.
  • Customer-focused mindset, dedicated to exceeding client expectations and building trustworthy relationships
