THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a successful and growing manufacturing organization in Abbotsford to recruit a Controller. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a key leadership opportunity for an experienced Controller who wants to make a meaningful impact across both the finance function and wider business operations.

This Controller role is ideal for a hands-on and commercially minded CPA who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where finance plays a central role in driving performance, supporting decision-making, and improving processes. You will lead the accounting function while partnering closely with operations and senior leadership to help shape the future direction of the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Lead all core accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger
  • Oversee month-end, year-end, and financial statement preparation
  • Deliver variance analysis and meaningful financial insights to leadership
  • Manage the external audit process and maintain strong internal controls

Manufacturing Finance & Commercial Support

  • Own cost accounting, inventory valuation, and margin analysis
  • Partner with operations to understand production drivers and improve profitability
  • Manage working capital, cash flow, and forecasting
  • Support investment and growth decisions through robust financial analysis

Planning, Forecasting & Systems Improvement

  • Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes
  • Improve reporting, dashboards, and financial visibility
  • Act as finance lead for ERP enhancements and process improvements
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives

Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Lead, coach, and develop the finance team
  • Build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate closely with operations, supply chain, and executive leadership

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • CPA designation is required
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience
  • Background within manufacturing, distribution, or product-based environments
  • Strong expertise in cost accounting, inventory, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • ERP systems experience (Dynamics NAV / D365 preferred)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across the business
  • A hands-on leadership style with both strategic and operational capability
