THE ROLE:

We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Civil Litigator to join our client’s legal team in South Surrey. The ideal candidate will have strong advocacy skills, extensive knowledge of civil litigation and procedure, and a track record of successfully managing litigation cases from inception through resolution. This role requires excellent research, negotiation, and courtroom presentation skills. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of experience and an established client base.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent clients in civil litigation matters, including contract disputes, tort claims, real estate litigation, and other civil cases.
  • Draft, file, and respond to legal pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct legal research to develop case strategies and provide sound legal advice to clients.
  • Manage all aspects of case preparation, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and consulting with experts.
  • Advocate for clients in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and appeals.
  • Negotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolutions when in the best interest of the client.
  • Maintain regular client communication, providing case updates and strategic recommendations.
  • Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and legal precedents relevant to civil litigation.
  • Work collaboratively with legal support staff to ensure efficient case management.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Juris Doctor (or equivalent) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
  • 3+ years of experience in civil litigation.
  • Strong analytical, legal research, and writing skills.
  • Excellent oral and written advocacy abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • High ethical standards and professional integrity.
  • Familiar with mediation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
  • Familiarity with case management software and legal research tools.
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships.
