The Role
We have partnered with a well-established organization in Brantford to hire a CAD Designer on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is ideal for someone with experience in CAD design, technical drawings, and storage system design who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Reporting to the Design Manager, this position plays a key role in developing storage system designs from concept through installation, collaborating closely with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities
- Convert customer requests into simple to moderate storage system designs that optimize warehouse space utilization
- Prepare accurate CAD drawings for presentation, installation, PSR/permit, and fabrication purposes using AutoCAD 2024, ensuring compliance with company and engineering standards
- Prepare bills of materials and project costing; source approved suppliers and create cost-effective, optimized designs
- Assist in processing customer orders and vendor purchases in coordination with the sales and plant teams
- Act as the design Subject Matter Expert during installations to resolve technical issues and provide innovative solutions
- Participate in peer reviews as required to ensure accurate drawings and bills of materials
- Contribute to special projects that support design capabilities, including maintaining AutoCAD blocks, design standards, and design automation initiatives
- Conduct site evaluations and measurements as needed, up to moderate project complexity
- Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, internal teams, and installers throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintain technical competence through self-study and participation in offered training opportunities
Requirements
- Post-secondary technical education (degree, diploma, or certificate) in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD 2024 and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience in storage system or warehouse design preferred
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on material flow, facility layout, and cost-effective solutions
- Attention to detail, self-checking of designs, and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible, resourceful, punctual, and team-oriented with a strong work ethic
- Customer-centric approach and ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders
