The Role

An established investment firm is seeking an experienced Manager, Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing (AML/ATF) to join its Compliance team. This role can be based in either Vancouver or Toronto and reports to the Vice President, Compliance.

The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing, implementing, and overseeing the firm’s AML/ATF program to ensure compliance with applicable Canadian legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. This is a hands-on role with meaningful exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional compliance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor regulatory changes, industry developments, and emerging risks related to AML/ATF and sanctions.
  • Oversee the AML/ATF program to ensure compliance with federal legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to AML/ATF processes, tools, and systems to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Conduct and/or oversee sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, enhanced due diligence, and investigations, including preparing risk assessments, reports, and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed AML/ATF records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with other compliance teams to manage account- and transaction-related AML/ATF risk indicators.
  • Support enterprise-wide AML risk assessments, effectiveness reviews, and the delivery of AML/ATF training programs.
  • Promote a strong AML risk management culture through reporting, metrics, and regular communication with senior leadership.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years of progressive AML/ATF experience, ideally including at least 2 years within a Canadian investment dealer or regulatory environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian AML/ATF legislation and regulations, with exposure to U.S. AML/ATF requirements and global regulatory trends considered an asset.
  • Professional certifications or coursework such as CAMS, the Canadian Securities Course, and/or the Securities Industry Essentials course are preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Professional, confident demeanor with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proactive, adaptable mindset with the ability to take ownership, manage evolving priorities, and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
