THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is a well-established Abbotsford-based law firm seeking an experienced Corporate Paralegal to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a corporate legal professional with strong technical experience who enjoys working on sophisticated corporate matters and taking ownership of files from start to finish.
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience supporting complex corporate and tax transactions, as well as strong knowledge of corporate maintenance and transactional work. Experience with family trusts is considered a strong asset.
THE ROLE
Working closely with the Partner and clients, the Corporate Paralegal will provide comprehensive support across a variety of corporate matters, including:
- Supporting complex corporate and tax-driven transactions, including preparation and coordination of related documentation
- Managing incorporations, corporate reorganizations, and related filings
- Preparing and maintaining annual reports and ongoing corporate records
- Assisting with share transfers, share issuances, and other corporate changes
- Supporting business transactions and related due diligence
- Preparing, reviewing, and organizing corporate documents, agreements, resolutions, and filings
- Conducting due diligence searches and reviews
- Managing corporate records and ensuring files are accurate, complete, and up to date
- Communicating directly with clients as well as other law firms, bankers, accountants, and external stakeholders
- Managing multiple files and deadlines while ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently
- Drafting, editing, and proofreading legal and corporate documents
- Providing general administrative support, including scheduling, document management, and file organization
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience as a Corporate Paralegal or Corporate Legal Assistant
- Strong hands-on experience with corporate transactions and corporate maintenance
- Demonstrated experience with complex corporate and/or tax transactions
- Experience with:
- Incorporations
- Annual reports and corporate maintenance
- Share transfers and issuances
- Business transactions
- Corporate reorganizations
- Due diligence searches
- Strong knowledge of the BC Business Corporations Act
- Experience with tax restructuring is required
- Knowledge or experience with family trusts is considered a strong asset
- Knowledge of ECorp and ALF is an asset
- Excellent written communication and document drafting skills
- Strong proofreading skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple files, priorities, and deadlines
- Professional and confident communicator who is comfortable working directly with clients and external professionals
- Strong judgment and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information
