THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is proud to partner with a technology company specializing in smart grid solutions and utility modernization to recruit for a Field Project Manager based remotely in the United States. They offer a dynamic, entrepreneurial work environment focused on solving complex technical challenges that directly support the electrification and decarbonization of modern infrastructure.

The client is seeking an experienced Field Project Manager to join their Customer Operations team, reporting to the Manager of Project Management. This role is primarily responsible for overseeing large-scale AMI deployments at customer sites and serving as the primary point of contact for managing complex, multi-faceted projects and customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, monitor, and control projects from initiation through to delivery and commissioning
  • Serve as the primary customer contact, providing on-site support, training, and problem resolution
  • Lead communication across multiple stakeholders to define requirements, establish system design, coordinate deliveries, and report on progress
  • Oversee systems integration between the company's AMI platform and other utility vendor systems
  • Negotiate, implement, and supervise subcontracts where required
  • Regularly report on project performance to management and key stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%
  • Bachelor's degree or advanced certification in Project Management, Operations Management, Engineering (Computer, Electrical, or Systems), or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience managing the deployment or installation of large-scale IT, telemetry, control, or communications systems
  • Demonstrated experience managing customer and stakeholder relationships
  • Must reside within one hour of a major US airport; preference for candidates in IN, MN, MO, IA, or TN

Preferred Skills

  • PMP designation
  • Experience in AMI/AMR, RF, or wireless communications systems
  • Familiarity with utility or energy sector operations
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Projects are delivered on time, on scope, and with a high degree of customer satisfaction
  • Customers feel well-supported and well-informed throughout the deployment lifecycle
  • Complex technical integrations are managed smoothly with minimal disruption to the customer
  • Stakeholder relationships — both internal and external — are proactively maintained and well-managed
  • Issues and risks are identified early and resolved with sound judgment and minimal escalation
