THE CLIENT

STRIVE is partnering with a highly successful and growing BC-based food manufacturing organization to hire a Senior Accountant. This company is a leader in its niche, operating in a specialized food production environment with strong global demand and recent record-breaking performance.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and meaningful financial reporting while supporting operational and strategic initiatives across the business

 

This is a hands-on, high-impact Senior Accountant role within a lean finance team. You will lead core accounting functions, support continuous improvement initiatives, and act as a trusted partner to operations and leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and working papers
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Deliver variance analysis with actionable insights to support decision-making
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Reconcile and manage fixed assets, accruals, and prepayments
  • Support inventory costing, inventory revaluations, and complex transaction recording
  • Oversee grower payables, payroll-related entries, and regulatory remittances (EHT, WCB, PST, GST)
  • Liaise with external auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audits
  • Conduct technical accounting research as required
  • Partner closely with operations to understand inventory flow and warehouse processes
  • Identify process enhancements to improve efficiency and controls
  • Support ERP master data integrity and financial system accuracy

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • CPA designated (or actively pursuing completion)
  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong experience with month-end, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or food production environments preferred
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work with multiple data sources
  • ERP experience (Dynamics NAV 365, Power BI, ADP considered assets)
  • Curious, proactive, and process-oriented
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, fully onsite environment
