THE ROLE

The client is a US-headquartered, dual-listed corporation with $8 billion in global revenue, looking for an Transport Safety Operations Supervisor to work 20% in the office, and 80% on the field, supervising a team of 18-25 collection truck drivers to ensure on-road policies are followed, assigned routes are on schedule, and track performance from multiple routes running from Surrey all the way to Horseshoe Bay.

Looking for someone knowledgeable of the routes in the Lower Mainland and the Island, as well as someone who holds a Class 3 Driver's License, preferably. Having strong supervisory experience is a must, working with tenured and newer employees, managing different personalities. Strong health and safety; knowledgeable of road and driving safety policies.

Shift time for this position is Sunday to Thursday.

Sunday is a 5 am start, Monday-Thursday is 10 am to 7 pm, with a potential 8 AM start on some occasions.

Must be available between 5 am and 7 pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and coordinate the daily activities of several service routes to ensure operational targets are met.
  • Analyze route performance data to identify trends, efficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Perform regular field evaluations and operational reviews to confirm compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all operators conduct required safety checks and equipment inspections before and after shifts.
  • Work closely with dispatch and support teams to resolve service issues, schedule repairs, and maintain uninterrupted operations.
  • Organize staffing schedules and route coverage, maintaining active communication with employees throughout the workday.
  • Address performance concerns through coaching and formal corrective action when required.
  • Lead investigations into workplace incidents by gathering information, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Promote and administer workplace safety programs, including training sessions, safety briefings, and documentation of compliance activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a Supervisory role in a similar capacity.
  • Completion of secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (Class 3 or higher) or the ability to obtain one, along with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial or collection vehicles is considered an advantage.
  • Experienced in using GPS tracking systems.
  • Strong organizational, reporting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational data.
  • Exposure to unionized work environments is an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe and responsible workplace.
  • Self-directed, dependable, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must meet all pre-employment screening and compliance requirements.
