THE ROLE

STRIVE is partnering with a well-established and reputable company in search of a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join their team in Ottawa (Nepean). In this permanent, full-time position, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, maintaining, and repairing a diverse fleet of construction equipment, including earth-moving machinery, compact equipment, and aerial equipment such as telehandlers, boom lifts, and scissor lifts.

You will play an important role in ensuring equipment is operating safely and efficiently, while providing a high standard of customer service and supporting shop operations. This role also offers the opportunity to mentor apprentices and new hires as the team continues to grow.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect, service, and maintain a fleet of construction equipment including earth-moving equipment, compact equipment, and aerial equipment such as telehandlers, boom lifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and complete required repairs in a timely manner.
  • Test the equipment after repairs to ensure proper performance and safe operation.
  • Complete accurate documentation including inspections, maintenance reports, and work orders.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop and yard while following company policies and procedures.
  • Follow all company Health & Safety policies and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional attitude at all times.
  • Mentor apprentices and new hires by providing training, support, and guidance.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years of experience servicing and repairing a variety of heavy-duty equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel/gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Comfortable using diagnostic tools and computer applications.
  • Heavy Equipment Technician License is an asset.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license with a good driver’s abstract in good standing.
  • Willing to work overtime as required.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, safety mindset, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
