THE ROLE

STRIVE is working with a reputable company in search of an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic for their Grande Prairie, Alberta location. This position is a permanent, primarily shop-based position with occasional field work as required. We are looking for someone with direct experience working on construction equipment, including earth-moving, compact, and aerial equipment

DUTIES:

  • Inspect, service, and maintain a fleet of construction equipment including earth-moving, compact, and aerial equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and complete repairs efficiently
  • Test the equipment after repairs to ensure proper performance and safe operation
  • Complete service reports, maintenance records, and work orders accurately and on time
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional shop and yard environment
  • Support apprentices by providing training, guidance, and signing off on hours
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and assist with occasional field service work as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • Red Seal / Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification required
  • 4 years of expeirence working on heavy-duty equipment
  • Strong experience working on a variety of construction equipment
  • Solid knowledge of diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Comfortable using diagnostic software and computer applications
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a satisfactory driver’s abstract
  • Willing to work overtime and participate in the on-call rotation
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, adaptability, and ability to work independently or within a team
  • Safety-focused mindset and commitment to following procedures
  • Must have own tools
