THE ROLE

If you have hands on experience in a manufacturing plant as an engineer, we have an exciting opportunity for you! You will be focused on streamlining manufacturing processes on the production floor. Working closely with the production supervisors regarding process flow. You will be supporting and reviewing technical component specifications and reviewing installations and build requirements for Jr. Designers. The plant is experiencing growth and is very busy at the moment, so you'll have the chance to contribute to the team's success. The job is on the day shift and is ideal for those looking for a medium-sized manufacturing plant. This position is ideal for a hands on engineer who can help bring the ideas to life after the design stage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the production team to identify key areas requiring process review. 
  • Lead the end-to-end design process for custom ground support equipment, from concept through production.
  • Review and support Jr. Designers
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), product documentation, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, methodologies, and best practices to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Champion innovation and technology advancement, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and customer specifications.
  • Manage CAD material databases and templates. 
  • Perform engineering calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) studies to validate design projects and prepare reports as necessary. 
  • Collaborate closely with project management and sales teams to understand customer requirements and translate them into design solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and key deliverables

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong technical expertise in mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and product development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to listen and communicate concisely and effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in using relevant software and tools for project management and data analysis
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Knowledge of aviation industry regulations and standards is a plus
  • P.Eng M.Eng and asset but not required.
