THE ROLE
STRIVE is working with a well-established and reputable company in search of a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. In this permanent, full-time role, you’ll be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a wide range of heavy equipment, including riggers, loaders and excavators.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with 421A Red Seal certification who has strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills and enjoys working independently in a dynamic, field-based environment. While based out of Hamilton, 60% of your time will be spent on the out-of-town projects. We're looking for candidates with at least 2 years of hands-on experience working with heavy-duty equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform repairs, inspections, and routine maintenance on a variety of construction equipment, including drilling rigs, excavators, loaders, and small equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electronic controls, and electrical components
- Carry out preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
- Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper operation and safety compliance
- Complete detailed maintenance records, service reports, and work orders accurately and on time
- Work closely with supervisors and team members to ensure efficient service and support
- Travel to job sites to perform servicing and minor repairs as needed
- Work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting heavy machinery.
- Completion of the 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician – Journeyperson (Red Seal).
- Minimum 2 years of practical, hands‑on work with heavy equipment service and repair.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, equipment and vehicle electronics, and electrical systems.
- Valid G-class driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to reliably commute or relocate before starting work.
- Occasional shift work required (12-8 or weekends) but normal hours are 7-5.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused mindset
