The Role
Our client is a Canadian company with over 50 years of experience, specializing in monitoring systems, providing high-quality products, engineering, and customer support, along with services such as maintenance, training, and consulting. Currently seeking to add to the team an Automation and Mechatronics Field Technician.
Responsibilities
- Integrating, programming, and testing PLC and embedded systems, as well as creating and managing HMI interfaces.
- Conducting field service installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, with occasional travel required.
- Ensuring projects meet deadlines, including working overtime when necessary.
- Creating technical documents such as procedures, manuals, service reports, and regulatory approval documents.
- Communicating effectively with customers, project managers, and marine regulatory bodies.
- Collaborating with a diverse team of professionals, including technicians, engineers, and managers, in a cooperative and efficient manner.
Requirements
- Experience with PLC programming, and electrical systems as well as electromechanical equipment, is a must have.
- HMI creation, and embedded systems. Familiarity with Opto22, Siemens S7-1200 PLCs, and programming in C/C++/C# is a plus.
- Mechatronics Technologist/Engineer certification or equivalent technical experience, including hands-on work or hobbyist knowledge.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with technical writing experience.
- Excellent troubleshooting, mechanical aptitude, and familiarity with digital/analog circuits and tools.
- A valid driver’s license for local travel and the ability to travel internationally, including to the US.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Compensation
- $45 to $55 an hour depending on experience.
