THE ROLE
STRIVE Recruitment is excited to partner with one of Western Canada’s most well reputable law firms as they look to hire a Human Resources Assistant. This role will involve providing valuable support to the HR team, collaborating effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, and assisting with recruitment and professional development initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to both the HR and Professional Development teams, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
- Coordinate onboarding for all new hires, including completing necessary documentation, scheduling orientations, and assisting with training.
- Assist in organizing internal events, such as celebrations, team-building activities, and other staff engagement initiatives.
- Manage staff attendance records and coordinate time-off requests, ensuring smooth operations in the HR department.
- Handle the recruitment process, including liaising with recruitment agencies, conducting initial screenings, scheduling interviews, and managing candidate communications.
- Assist with maintaining employee records and confidential information in compliance with firm policies.
- Support the HR team in identifying training needs, organizing professional development initiatives, and contributing to wellness programs.
- Provide administrative support for the student recruitment cycle, including recruitment events, job postings, and interview coordination.
- Assist with managing summer and articling student programs, supporting their orientation, training, and licensing.
- Provide support for internal continuing education and mentorship programs for lawyers.
- Offer reception coverage as needed and help with various firm-related projects and events.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in an HR or recruitment role, preferably within a law firm environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), with experience in HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative team player with a strong sense of professionalism and attention to detail.
- Experience with document management systems and familiarity with legal industry practices is an asset.
