THE ROLE:
Our client is a respected boutique law firm specializing in Personal Injury litigation. They only represent those who have been injured, and never ICBC or any other insurance company. They take pride in providing professional and individual service. They are looking for a Legal Assistant to join their team in Vancouver. The successful candidate must be organized, compassionate, strong attention to detail, able to multi-task while working both independently
and within a team structure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Scheduling (XFD, IME, Trial,
- TMC, Mediation, etc.) and all related tasks (including travel arrangements)
- Client communication
- Part 7 Benefits (TTD calculations, communications with adjuster regarding reimbursement and funding)
- Updating schedule of special damages, Liaise with OT’s
- Draft & serve LOD’s and Amended Lists
- Review DLOD and request documents
- Serve MLR + Rebuttal reports, DIME Appointment management
- Advise experts of trial, schedule experts and witness for trial and prep calls
- Trial prep (as requested/instructed by the lawyer or paralegal)
- Settlement Tasks
- Assisting with collection and organization of invoices for BOC
- Cancel scheduled trial date (telephone & requisition)
- Send out file settled letters to various medical and employment contacts
- Cancel TMC if scheduled
- Deal with release (client to sign, return to ICBC, copy to file, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of 2 year of experience working in a plaintiff personal injury law firm
- Graduated from an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant Program
- Excellent organizational skills and be a multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize
- A strong work ethic and initiative
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent technical and word processing skills
- The ability to work both independently and within a team
- The ability to draft legal documents and correspondence
- Knowledge in ICBC Part 7 benefits
