THE ROLE
Our client is a long-established, well-regarded Food Production company. This role is a Monday-to-Friday in-office role with a flexible starting time. They are a well-reviewed business with many employees with long tenure!!
The Staff Accountant is part of the head office Accounting team supporting five operating locations in British Columbia. To be successful, candidates should enjoy problem-solving, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and is able to pivot when things change. This position requires attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy and a collaborative approach.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support accounts receivable departments for billing and collection, review customer contracts to ensure compliance to terms.
- Support accounts payable department for purchase activity with vendors, matching invoices to PO, expense allocation, review payments
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Maintain fixed asset ledger, amortization schedule, calculate gain/loss on disposal.
- Support monthly/quarterly closing activities include reconcile various balance sheet accounts and prepare lead sheets, liaison with external auditor.
- Prepare periodic journal entries for adjustment and accruals.
- Prepare statutory remittances with government filings and payments.
- Prepare various analytical reports as directed.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of accounting-related experience required.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- Manufacturing & inventory management experience is an asset (i.e. production orders, inventory reconciliation, etc.).
- Working towards CPA Designation is an asset.
- Knowledge of ERP (i.e. Microsoft Dynamics series) is an asset.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy to ensure high quality of work.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
- Strong team player in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
