Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is seeking a Human Resources Specialist with disability management experience to join their team. This role will primarily support leave and disability management for hourly team members and play a key role in overseeing the accommodation process. The successful candidate will also serve as back-up support for recruitment and orientation efforts.
We’re looking for an HR professional with a well-rounded background in human resources and a deep understanding of employee accommodations, workplace health, and applicable legislation. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about supporting team members through periods of leave and return-to-work processes, this role could be an excellent fit.
Responsibilities:
- Manage disability claims, leaves of absence (e.g., medical, parental, WSIB), and return-to-work programs for hourly team members.
- Lead and coordinate the workplace accommodation process, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal policies.
- Act as a trusted resource for team members and leadership regarding employee relations matters.
- Support and conduct workplace investigations involving concerns such as harassment or workplace violence.
- Prepare investigation documentation, reports, and recommended resolutions in a timely and professional manner.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and mediate employee/employer issues to drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Provide back-up support for recruitment activities, including screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Assist with new hire orientation sessions when needed.
- Stay current on employment legislation, including AODA, ESA, and human rights obligations.
- Administer HR policies and ensure company-wide compliance with relevant standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of HR experience
- HR Certification is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite.
