The Role
STRIVE Recruitment has partnered with a recognized leader in Canada’s private real estate lending industry as they look to recruit a Director of Loan Administration. This is a newly created Director of Loan Administration position due to the continuous growth of the organization. The client is a very reputable and well-established company who is looking to reshape its finance team and bring in an ambitious and driven loan administration expert who has experience working in large complex, multi-entity organizations.

As the Director of Loan Administration, you will be responsible for leading a team of loan administration professionals and managing the end-to-end loan administration process. Your primary objective will be to ensure the seamless execution of loan origination, servicing, and compliance activities while maintaining strong relationships with borrowers and stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including underwriting, originations, investor relations, and accounting, to ensure the successful administration and monitoring of our loan portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the loan administration function, including loan origination, documentation, servicing, compliance, and portfolio management.
- Lead and manage a team of loan administrators, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure accurate and timely loan administration activities.
- Develop and implement loan administration policies, procedures, and workflows to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, loan agreements, and internal policies, working closely with legal and compliance teams.
- Monitor loan documentation accuracy and completeness, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with underwriting teams to review loan documents and validate loan terms and conditions.
- Manage the loan servicing function, including loan disbursements, payments, and collections, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Oversee the loan portfolio management activities, including loan covenant tracking, compliance reporting, and portfolio analytics.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with borrowers, providing excellent customer service and addressing any loan-related inquiries or issues.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, auditors, and regulators, to support loan-related reporting and audits.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Significant experience (8+ years) in loan administration or related roles in the financial services industry.
- Strong knowledge of loan administration practices, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing a team and providing leadership and guidance.
- Excellent understanding of loan documentation, loan agreements, and legal aspects of loan administration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex loan administration issues.
- Proficient in loan administration systems and tools, with the ability to leverage technology for process improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple priorities.
